Ever heard of Creative touring? No? Well Let’s Go Trinidad & Tobago, has pioneered a one of its kind tour that promotes “innovation and design by improving lifestyles with impressions that last”. With an aim to promote learning experiences while discovering or re-discovering Trinidad, Let’s Go Trinidad & Tobago has launch “A Fashionista’s Summer Tour”. If you love fashion and, like me, love to shop local, this is the tour for you. Now a lot of people assume when they are in the Caribbean shopping local means 2 things, cheap quality and dust collectors (shot glasses, kitchen magnets, key chains, etc), however Trinidad artisans strive for unique pieces that are top quality, fashionable and wearable.
With out given away all of L.G.T.T secrets, this tour definitely brings out the inner fashionista in you. Tanya, from L.G.T.T, has it all covered, your world will open up to local fashions in the form of jewelry, clothing (some absolutely to die for pieces), handbags and more. To me the most important thing about a fashion shopping tour, is that the stores are affordable, have a range of style and make you feel comfortable while shopping, and I am happy to report Tanya has managed to accomplish all three categories through out her tour. We visited 4 shops and each were completely different, at some of stops we were delighted to find light refreshments, and let’s be real, shopping really wears you out!
If you are traveling in Trinidad or if you are a Trinidadian who often takes gifts when you travel to see family and friends, I highly recommend this tour. Not only does it give you a taste of local fashions available, it gives you an opportunity to give a piece of the country to someone else. Did I mention that I am not of fan of cheesy souvenirs? Instead of taking home a bottle opener or a oven glove, you can take home a fabulous piece you can incorporate in your everyday wardrobe, or how about some nice smelly organic soaps?
The L.G.T.T tour was well organized, stress free and most important FUN! It was a intimate tour that can accommodate up to 12 people, which gives you a chance to meet some freaken awesome people, and the ability to actually speak to your hosts through out the day.
Thank you Tanya and Let’s Go Trinidad & Tobago for this fabulous experience!
