Fête Fashion: Trinidad Carnival

January 29, 2017

With Carnival only a month away, pumping season has already begun. Fête season is upon us and ladies that means your outfits need to be on point. Different types of Fêtes require different dress codes, and don’t worry your girl has your back.

  1. Boat Cruise:
Even though you’re on a boat, leave your fishnets at home and while you’re at it forget the heels too. If the punchy punch doesn’t have you rocking, the waves will, so let’s keep it cute, a low wedge or flats are appropriate here. Boat cruise attire consists of summer wear (shorts, rompers, summer dresses) or sexy beachwear paired with a cover up/shorts. The ultimate accessory are your shades.
  2. All Inclusive:

By Day: There is nothing worse then sipping champagne in your mom jeans. Think Resort Chic. Beachwear with a luxury finish. Go sexy or classic. Flowy loose clothing always dazzles in the sunshine. Ladies please consider your venue, grass: flats/wedge, concrete: wedge/heels, sand: flats. Don’t forget your shades.

By Night: Trinidad is a country where skin is always in and sexy comes in all shapes and sizes. If your stush please continue to the bush, because food is the main accessory here. There is nothing sexier than classy dressed women in 6 inch heels balancing a doubles with slight pepper in one hand and eating with the other.

  1. Wet Fetes:
The key to this one is in the title. Don’t be one of those girls wearing their shower cap and a rubber ducky to this fete. Wear something cute, a mix of beachwear/crop tops and shorts. Flats only. Waterproof mascara and keep it light on the black eyeliner.
  2. Breakfast parties: Much like a wet fete keep it cute. Breakfast parties are light and fun no need to dazzle it up. Flats and sunnies are an absolute must.
  1. Cooler Fete: Throw together something effortless and fun. The best accessory for this fete is your cup and your flats because its loose waist and flexi-back. Warning don’t jump up on a styrofoam cooler #damageit
  2. J’ouvert Fetes: You can’t play mas and fraid powder. J’ouvert is all about mud and oil, oversized t-shirts and short short shorts. Cut, tie and pin your tee as needed. For heaven sakes save your locks. Add a coating of conditioner for an easy clean when you drag yourself through the door half dead at 9 in the morning.
  3. Liming around town
The week before carnival, town is buzzing with vibes. From taking in a drink at Frankies, to chipping to de riddim section on Maraval Rd, this is what carnival is all about. Dress to fit in anywhere, as the vibes will take over.

Tip: Designated drinkers, have your designated drivers ready. Nothing can ruin carnival, we jammin still.

Hello would you mind stating which blog platform you’re working with? I’m planning to start my own blog in the near future but I’m having a hard time making a decision to go with WordPress.
