Well as many D.I.Y’ers know, not every project is successful. I recently came across a post for doggy ice treats for hot summer days. I thought to myself “hey, it’s like ice cream for dogs”, my ever so curious pitbull will LOVE IT.
Here is what you need:
- Some rubber dog toys
- 1 cup Chicken Stock
- A freezer safe bowl
Step 1: Add one cup of Chicken Stock to about 1 liter of water (or more if desired) in your bowl.
Step 2: Throw in some Rubber toys, I just used two for this experiment. Use something familiar to your pet, so it captivates their attention.
Step 3: Throw it in the freezer and allow it to set.
I left my concoction in the freezer over night to make sure it was good and solid. About midday, the hottest time of the day here in Trinidad, I gave it to Delilah.
She sniffed it for about 1 minute and walked away. I think it’s safe to say for me, this experiment was an EPIC FAIL. On my second attempt at Doggy Popsicles, I added a bit more chicken stock to see if this would stimulate Delilah’s sense of smell,* sigh*, unfortunately still an epic fail. Now before I swear anybody off this treat, let me tell you a bit about Delilah. She is a hyper, energetic, off the wall kind of dog. She is extremely active, so for something to captivate her attention, it needs to either squeak, roll, crunch or bounce.
Let me know how your doggy’s reacted to this summer treat. Comment below.
Remember in school when you had to do “did wells and next times”?? Well my “next time” is to try to add a new spin on it and add some canned salmon. I’ll keep you posted on my results.
