Soaking up: Winnipeg – Tallpine Lodges

February 15, 2019

As many of you know, winter isn’t really my thing. However with winter generally lasting 6 or month in Winnipeg, it’s so important to take a moment to appreciate its beauty. In January this island girl got the opportunity to get away with her favourite photographers to enjoy Manitoba’s natural winter wonderland at Tallpine Lodges, located in the breath taking Whiteshell Province Park. This family run lodge offers guest an opportunity to reconnect with nature with the luxuries of a…

Leo’s 2 Birthday

January 22, 2019
Victoria Inn Hotel

“I can’t believe my kid is.. (insert age here)” says every parent with each birthday that passes. Alas I feel the same way. Leo’s second birthday snuck up on us and I flew into panic mode. Anyone who lives in Winnipeg can attest that winter birthdays are tough especially for little ones. Our winters are brutal and unpredictable, therefore to plan an outdoor party for a young child is difficult. The options we were left with were indoor play parks,…

Dream streets making dreams a reality

September 20, 2018

A few years ago while searching for a new charity to volunteer for, I came across a Winnipeg based organization called The Dream Factory. Dreams range from hockey games, to trips to Disney World and everything in between. Recently Ryder, my girls son, was granted a wish “Having Ryder’s dream granted by the Dream Factory in 2017 gave us something to celebrate.…

Soaking up:Winnipeg – Bajan Night

Bajan Night in Winnipeg

The Annual Bajan Night celebration hosted by The Barbados Association of Winnipeg took place on June 23rd, 2018 at Glenwood Community centre. I sat among the couple hundred attendees anticipating the nights culinary adventure.   Pictured here is a traditional meal, meaning anytime you roll up to someones home you are more then likely going to be served something similar. This plate will dance on your palette; the Rice and Peas, bake chicken, stew beef and probably the best fish…

Until Next Year Red River Mutual Trail

March 13, 2018

Another year, another record broken! The Red River Mutual Trail that runs from the heart of the city straight to Arlington St, was a whopping 7.5 km and was open for 70days. While this Winnipeg gem holds a place in every ‘peggers heart for different reasons, my personal favourite thing about the trail are the warming huts. The warming hut competition entertains entries from all over the world and a lucky few get to see their architecture dreams come true. Here are some…
