Soaking up:Winnipeg – Bajan Night

July 20, 2018
Bajan Night in Winnipeg

The Annual Bajan Night celebration hosted by The Barbados Association of Winnipeg took place on June 23rd, 2018 at Glenwood Community centre. I sat among the couple hundred attendees anticipating the nights culinary adventure.

Pictured here is a traditional meal, meaning anytime you roll up to someones home you are more then likely going to be served something similar. This plate will dance on your palette; the Rice and Peas, bake chicken, stew beef and probably the best fish cakes I have ever tasted, are a divine mix.

The best was still to come with my favourite part of the meal: Dessert.

Dessert was so good I forgot to take pictures, rookie mistake. as I ate my way through sugar cakes, sweet bread/coconut bread and turnovers I couldn’t help but wonder if it was even possible that these tasty delights  could be any better in their native country.

If you are interested in taking a culinary adventure, make sure to check out The Barbados Association of Winnipeg website or even better take a trip to Barbados.

Who else is hungry now?

You caught my eye with the Mount Gay Rum. It became a favourite following our visit to Barbados. And, yes. that plate of food looks mighty fine as well. Barbados is a wonderful Caribbean destination in which to tempt our palates. I tried it all!
